Gators Crushed By Michigan in Elite 8

By: Justin Pawlowski

Gator nation was high after the Gators rebounded after an early deficit and ended the cinderella run of FGCU on Friday night.  Unfortunately, the Gators got out to a slow start again on Sunday against Michigan and could never recover.

The Wolverines started Sunday’s game against the Gators on a 13-0 run until Will Yeguete made the first field goal for the Gators.

Michigan would keep that double-digit lead throughout the entire game and advance to the Final Four with a 79-59 victory over the Gators.

Michigan will play Syracuse in the Final Four for the first time since the early 1990’s.

For the Gators, they lose in the regional final for the 3rd straight year.

It was a tough end to this tournament for senior Erik Murphy who ended the game with 8 rebounds, but was 0-11 from the field and held scoreless for the first time this season.

“Just missed shots,” Murphy said. “Our defense was bad.”
