The Tampa Bay Lightning Expected to Name Jon Cooper As Their Next Head Coach

Sources are saying that the Tampa Bay Lightning are expected to name Syracuse Crunch Head Coach Jon Cooper as their next head coach as early as Tuesday.

The Crunch are the Lightning’s AHL affiliate and are currently in first place in the Eastern Conference.

Cooper was the AHL’s Coach of the Year last season, leading the Norfolk Admirals to a Calder Cup win, the AHL equivalent of the Stanley Cup.

The 45 year old will become the Lightning’s eighth head coach in the franchise’s history.
