TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A Tampa police squad was holding a roll call when suddenly they heard gun shots and had to spring into action.
The Tampa Police Department reports the entire squad responded to the scene of the shooting Saturday evening.
The officers got a description of two vehicles from a witness. A corporal spotted one of the vehicles nearby.
Investigators say the driver of the vehicle stopped and fled into a garage. Officers set up a perimeter and arrested 19-year-old Mikeil T. Royal.
Authorities say Royal got into an argument with his mother and fired several rounds into the air. He also fired at an unoccupied, parked vehicle and an occupied apartment. No one was injured.
