USF Loses Assistant Coach Larry Scott to Miami

By: Justin Pawlowski

There are certain things in life you could always rely on.  Larry Scott being a member of the USF football program was one of those things.

Until now.

Per Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, USF TEs coach Larry Scott has been hired to the same position with the Miami Hurricanes.

Scott was a member of the first recruiting class at USF under Jim Leavitt and played his entire collegiate career for the Bulls.

For the last 6 seasons, Scott has been an assistant coach under Leavitt, Skip Holtz, and Willie Taggart.  Scott was the only coach retained by Willie Taggart once Taggart took over for the fired Holtz.

During his 6 seasons as an assistant coach at USF, Scott has worked with tight ends, offensive linemen, and running backs.  Scott had also become USF’s top recruiter as he was influential in recruiting many of USF’s top players on the roster today.

While Scott leaves USF to head to a program destined for punishment from the NCAA, USF has a new coach search for an assistant to coach their tight ends.

USF begins spring practice on March 20.
