The combine has just got underway, but the rumors are hot and heavy.
While many names have been mentioned as potential top 5 picks in this April’s NFL Draft, former Gators DT Sharrif Floyd has not been among them.
“I think Sharrif Floyd is a top-five pick,” Mike Mayock said.
Floyd will be battling with Star Lotulelei of Utah to be the top DT taken in late April.
Floyd’s name had started to gain some steam with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a bit over the past couple of days, but a surge into the top 5 would take the Bucs out of the running for the former Gators star.
A defensive tackle to ply next to Gerald McCoy should be one of the Bucs top priorities this off-season with Roy Miller set to hit free agency in March. I still look for the Bucs to look for improvement in both play and size at nose tackle for next season.
For Sharrif Floyd, teams like the Jaguars and Raiders could be destinations for him. The Jaguars own the 2nd pick in April’s draft, while the Raiders pick 3rd.
