PLANT CITY, Fla. (CBS Tampa) - A man is in jail after he splashed lighter fluid onto two children before threatening to set their house on fire.
The trouble began when Randy Lee Lisenby, 44, got into an argument with an unidentified woman at her residence regarding his reported drug use, according to CBS affiliate WTSP.
As the argument grew more heated, Lisenby took a bottle of lighter fluid and started to splash the liquid onto an exit of the house, dousing the children in the process and threatening to burn the home to the ground.
The station learned from officers at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office that the woman then grabbed the children – both toddlers – and escaped to a neighbor’s house.
While left alone, Lisenby reportedly set fire to a rug and several blankets. He then secured himself inside the trailer and told police upon their arrival that he intended to burn the home to the ground with him inside.
Responding officers eventually convinced Lisenby to exit the trailer, at which point he was arrested.
He was charged with two counts of child abuse, one count of felony arson and one count of aggravated assault for his actions, WTSP learned.
