CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) — A southwest Florida officer has killed a pit bull that was charging him.
Clearwater Police officials said an officer responded to a home Saturday after someone complained about an aggressive dog.
The pit bull charged the officer multiple times, forcing the officer to use a baton to protect himself. Authorities said the dog continued to charge him so the officer shot his handgun and killed the dog.
The officer was not injured. He has not been identified.
