PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (CBS Tampa) - A man claimed to be the sun when he was caught robbing a home last Thursday.
According to the Northwest Florida Daily News, local resident Brett Eric Drachenburg broke into a private residence and took a beach towel bearing an Alys Beach logo.
A police report from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office obtained by the paper indicated that the homeowner was in the residence at the time of Drachenburg’s entry.
When responding authorities apprehended Drachenburg after being called to the scene, he reportedly claimed to be “the sun” – a hindrance that earned the 51-year-old would-be robber a charge of obstructing justice.
The paper learned that Drachenburg was also charged with larceny and unarmed burglary to a dwelling.
