MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — A female letter carrier was attacked by two dogs until good Samaritans came to her rescue.
Officials say 55-year-old Emogene Powell opened a gate to deliver mail to a house in Miami Gardens Tuesday when a neighbor’s dogs jumped the fence and attacked her.
A neighbor who witnessed the attack says Powell screamed “Oh, Lord please help me,” as the dogs bit her on the face, arms and legs. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to Miami-Dade Animal Control, the dogs’ owner had the proper paperwork and vaccinations for the dogs, meaning they can issue a fine. The dogs are registered as American Bulldogs.
Miami television station CBS 4 reports the U.S. Postal Service can ask animal control to investigate under the dangerous dog law.
