LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (CBS Tampa) - A local man needed emergency medical care after accidentally shooting himself in the groin with a flare gun.
The trouble began when Jorge Perez, 23, was playing with an unloaded flare gun on Sunday, according to WZVN.
After pretending to fire the weapon multiple times, he reportedly loaded the gun before setting it down for awhile. When he returned to play with the weapon again, he had forgotten that it was no longer unloaded.
Perez allegedly fired the gun at the ground, causing the flare he had previous loaded to hit the floor and ricochet back into his groin.
He called for assistance, and was subsequently taken to the hospital to be treated for the multiple burns he sustained during the incident, the station learned.
