Are you strapped for cash after the holidays but need to get out of the house with the kids? Here’s our list of the best free or cheap things to do this weekend of Jan. 5 – 6, 2013.

Tampa Bay Buc’s most exciting player this season will be at Elder Ford of Tampa THIS SATURDAY for a FREE Autograph Session from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Plus FREE COOKOUT and lots of prizes, including $5000 cash! Bring your friends, family, and anyone else to meet the rookie running back that is already breaking all the records. Little kids and big kids will giggle with delight when they climb on board Largo Central Railroad’s miniature trains.The first weekend of every month  they open up and offer free public run days. Everyone is welcome. Over a mile and a half of tracks run through Largo Central Park.They operate on these free weekends from 10am to 4pm. Bring a picnic or buy lunch from one of the vendors. Children must be at least one year to ride.

Free Epiphany Celebration with Traditional Greek Dancing
Sunday: 1:30 – 6pm

In celebration of the baptism of Christ. At noon a procession of children in traditional costumes, choir members and Greek folk dance to witness the tossing of the Holy Cross in Tarpon Springs Bayou. The annual Glendi (festival) with food, drink, live music and traditional Greek dancing begins after the cross dive. 1:30 to 6 p.m. Admission is free, food, beverages, Greek pastries and other items will be for sale.

Rowing, paddle board, kayak and dragon boat races with a seafood competition, low country shrimp and stone crab boil, food trucks, cash bar, games and ice skating ($10). Admission free Food and skating have a fee.

Bring blankets, low lawn chairs or towels to sit on Clearwater Beach and watch free movies. Shows start around 6pm (dusk). Saturday night movie is Thunderstruck a PG movie.

Free activities for the kids, variety of live music and much more. Bring your family and enjoy the day. The planetarium will be open ($3.00 charge). there will also be a FREE Sci-Fi movie, starting at 7:30 (bring your own chairs). Telescope and Observatory Viewing 7 pm to midnight.
