TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Gov. Rick Scott now says Florida needs to look at more early voting days.
Scott refused to use his emergency powers to permit early voting on the Sunday before the Nov. 6 election.
He said during a CNN interview Wednesday, though, that Florida needs to consider an expansion of early voting. Scott also said the state should look at limiting the length of its ballot and giving local election officials more flexibility in the size of polling sites.
In defending his refusal to order early voting on the Sunday before the election, the Republican governor said he was complying with a new law that he signed last year. It cut the number of early voting days — including that particular Sunday, which traditionally was favored by Democratic-leaning black voters.
