CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) — Officials say an elderly woman died when she fell out of a small fishing boat near Clearwater Beach.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reports that 81-year-old Beverly Barnes and her husband were fishing on Tuesday near Caladesi Island. The husband was at the stern of the boat and when he turned around, his wife was missing from the bow.
Officials say the man dove in and recovered his wife, administered CPR and called 911. The woman was pronounced dead at a local hospital and her husband was taken to a hospital for treatment.
FWC and the Clearwater Police Department are investigating.
