VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – Volusia County authorities say a drunk woman attacked an 8-year old child as she was defending a 66-year-old woman.

WESH-TV reports police charged Rebecca Jenks, 41, on battery on a person over 65 years of age and child abuse.

Police say Jenks was drunk when the little girl tried to stop her from pushing and kicking the elderly woman.

Authorities told the station that Jenks “pushed the child away and punched her on the back of her neck.”

Police later reported she slipped out of her handcuffs and attacked another inmate while in custody. Police then added the charge of battery in a county jail or detention.

Jenks currently remains in custody.
