Deputy Accused Of Trying To Poison Another Deputy With Hand Sanitizer

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – A Pinellas County deputy has been suspended after being accused of trying to poison her co-worker.

WTSP-TV reports that Deputy Tamara Morgan has been suspended 250 hours for pouring hand sanitizer into another deputy’s coffee.

According to the station, Pinellas County officials say Morgan poured hand sanitizer into a deputy’s coffee thermos after getting into an argument with him.

Authorities went on to say that when the deputy drank from his thermos, he felt a burning sensation down his throat.

The station reports Morgan admitted to this act, which according to the county, is “a first degree felony and violation of agency policy.”

“Is it unusual or out of the ordinary that someone may receive discipline exceeding 100 hours of suspension? No it is not, but each case is different,” Marianne Pasha, a representative with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, told WTSP.

The victim has decided not to press charges against Morgan.

Morgan will begin her suspension on Nov. 26.
