WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS Tampa) — A fight between a substitute teacher and a student at a Florida high school has gone viral on the Internet.

WPTV reports the video shows a teacher identified as Mr. Smith and an unnamed student fighting inside a classroom at Palm Beach Lakes High School.

The video shows the two getting into a confrontation when the teen shoves the teacher. The teen then throws an object at Mr. Smith, who swings wildly at the teen. The two throw numerous punches at one another during the brawl while other students in the classroom scream. The fight ends after the teen runs out of the classroom.

Students who witnessed the fight were shocked.

“It’s just like, to see a kid, someone like that step up to someone. First of all, you should have respect for that man. I know I would have,” student Brandon Rucker told the station.

The school said in a statement that an investigation is ongoing.

“The incident is being investigated, and no report or further comment is available since the investigation remains open,” Nat Harrington, Palm Beach County School District spokesman, told WPTV.

The station reports that the teacher has been fired and the student expelled.

The incident reportedly happened on Nov. 8. The video caught on a cell phone was uploaded by WorldStarHipHop.
