Amy Winehouse’s Wedding Dress Stolen

Two of Amy Winehouse’s dresses, including the dress she wore for her 2006 Miami wedding, were reported missing and believed to have been stolen from her London home this week.

The Amy Winehouse Foundation, a charity that raises money for children’s hospices and drug counselors in order to help addicts, reported the wedding dress, along with a newsprint cocktail dress that she wore during a 2006 appearance on the British TV show Later With Jools Holland, stolen after an inventory of the singer’s home.

The dresses, along with other personal items, were to be auctioned off for the singer’s charity  The two outfits were expected to fetch around £130,000 or $210,043.

When Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse spoke with The Sun, he was confused to why someone would steal these two dresses in particular.

“Her wedding dress was only a little cotton thing, a hundred quid at best in the shops,” he said. “Whoever nicked it realized its significance and knew it had an extra value.”

He found it even more baffling considering that Amy owned a couple of dresses from Dolce & Gabbana that would be worth a fortune.

“It’s sickening that someone would steal something in the knowledge of its sentimental value,” he said.
