KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) — Law enforcement officials in the Florida Keys are asking boaters to keep a look-out for bales of marijuana floating in the Atlantic Ocean.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said Friday that about 100 pounds of marijuana have been pulled from the water over the past couple days.
The bales have been scattered over a large area, and authorities say they suspect that there are more out there.
The drugs have been hidden in bales marked “brown sugar” from Jamaica.
Boaters who find similar bales are urged to call authorities immediately.
