The 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards nominees have been announced and the usual suspects have hopped the pond for another round of statues. Rihanna leads all nominees with six; A$AP Rocky finds himself in stylish company; and PSY’s “Gangnam Style” competes for night’s top award.  

Taylor Swift comes in behind Rihanna with five nominations, including one in the “Best Female” category, which also includes Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Pink.  

Jay-Z and Kanye West have snagged two nominations together and one each separately in the “Best Male” category, which also includes Flo Rida, Pitbull and Justin Bieber. Meanwhile, A$AP Rocky gets a nod in the “Best Style” competition, alongside Jack White, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj. 

At the MTV Music Video Awards, A$AP made his MTV Awards debut earlier this month while performing with Rihanna. He made headlines when he grabbed her butt during the performance.

Another standout among categories is PSY’s viral video, “Gangnam Style,” which is competing with Rihanna (“We Found Love”), M.I.A. (“Bad Girl”), Lady Gaga (“Marry The Night”) and Katy Perry (“Wide Awake”) for “Best Video” honor.
