TOWANDA, Pa. (AP) — A Florida woman will spend life in prison for killing her ex-lover’s new girlfriend in northern Pennsylvania two years ago.
A Bradford County judge on Monday formally ordered 55-year-old Emily Bellows-Schaffer to spend the rest of her life behind bars in the September 2010 killing of Carol Hickok.
Authorities said Bellows-Shaffer killed Hickok at her home near Canton. Bellows-Schaffer claimed she had gone to visit the son she shares with Hickok’s husband when Hickok fell against a dresser during an argument.
WNEP-TV reports Bellows-Shaffer, of Crystal Springs, Fla., was convicted of second-degree murder in August.
