Flood Water Recedes, But Tampa Police Urge Caution

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Police say three Tampa roads are now open after flood water caused by rain from Tropical Storm Isaac receded.

Parts of Dale Mabry Highway, Bayshore Boulevard and Church Avenue were closed by Tampa police early Monday. Tampa police say further flooding could result in road closures throughout the day as lingering tropical bands from Isaac cross the Tampa Bay area Monday.

The road closures come as the Republican National Convention opens in Tampa Monday afternoon. The tropical weather has already caused delays in the convention.

Like a large portion of Florida, the Tampa Bay area is under a tornado watch until at least 9 a.m.

Police are urging motorists to use extreme caution while driving in the Tampa Bay area.
