MARION COUNTY, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – A northern Florida resident told police pursuing her for speeding that she tried to evade them because she was not wearing a shirt.
WKMG-TV reports that Mandy Ramsey was being followed by Marion County authorities for driving 71 mph on a road where the speed limit is 55 mph. During the chase, she allegedly ran a stop sign and drove on a lawn before crashing into a tree.
When authorities approached her, she told them she was on her way to visit her boyfriend. Her boyfriend additionally told the station that she wanted to surprise him by arriving topless, and was embarrassed.
According to Mug Shots Ocala, 35-year-old Ramsey was booked Saturday on multiple charges following the chase, including fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
The station added that she was released on a $5,000 bond, but she may not be out of trouble just yet as the newly hired teacher’s aide for Marion County may lose her job.
