ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — “Brainstorming” is on the agenda for Gov. Rick Scott’s Florida Blue Ribbon Task Force on State Higher Education Reform.
The panel is meeting Thursday at St. Petersburg College to continue seeking comment from business people, parents, students, faculty members, administrators and others. The agenda includes a session on “brainstorming” and evaluating recommendations.
Scott has made job creation the centerpiece of his administration. He appointed the task force to propose ways for making Florida’s colleges and universities more efficient, transparent and accountable.
The panel is schedule to present its final recommendations to Scott on Oct. 30.
The Republican governor has been at odds with university officials and faculty on several key issues including tuition, course offerings and tenure.
