KATHLEEN, Fla. (CBS Tampa/AP) — A 4-year-old child was found dead in a mobile home that burned in Polk County.
The child was found Wednesday. Emergency officials say the child’s father was also injured and airlifted to Tampa General Hospital.
According to officials, the fire happened at 3418 Sheretz Road in Kathleen. It was first reported about 6 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters arrived as 90 to 95 percent of the house was already engulfed in flames.
Firefighters are still on the scene and witnesses said the father escaped the flames and then went back inside to try and rescue the child.
