TAMPA, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – Guy walks out of a strip club. Guy gets charged $50,000 for his night at the club. Guy claims his credit card was charged about 80 times more than it should have been charged. Guy sues strip club. Just another strip club story excursion gone wrong.
Lokesh Simon James, 32, has filed a lawsuit against Bliss Cabaret in Clearwater, Fla., and a former bartender for allegedly overcharging his credit card by more than $49,000 four months ago.
In March, James went to the strip club, not denying he spent around $600 on lap dances, drinks and tips, according to the Tampa Tribune.
When James saw the $50,000 statement on his Bank of America bill, he was in shock. David Sockol, James’ attorney, told the Tampa Tribune that when James approached the bank about the charges, bank officials indicated to him that they couldn’t be reported as fraudulent since he was present at the club. The lawsuit outlines how Bliss Cabaret and Doug Berube, the former club bartender in question, should repay the money he was overcharged, as well as additional fees such as attorney fees and court costs.
“There’s no way to spend that kind of money,” Sockol told the Tampa Tribune. “How many dances would it take before you run up $50,000 at $20 a dance?”
