Pinellas County Sheriff Cracks Down On Fake Pot

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri wants convenience stores to stop selling synthetic marijuana.

The Tampa Bay Times (http://bit.ly/MolT7J) reports that a state law went into effect over the weekend bans the sale of many of the chemicals found in the synthetic drug, better known as Spice, K-2, Incense or Loose Leaf Incense. It is a third-degree felony to possess or sell these chemicals.

Pinellas Sheriff’s deputies will deliver letters Monday to educate the retailers about the new law.

After the letters have been distributed, Gualtieri says his office will start conducting checks for compliance.
