Man Allegedly Stole Truck, Rammed Patrol Cars in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Authorities are searching for a man they say stole a woman’s truck and then rammed two patrol cars during when they tried to stop him near Tampa.

A woman called 911 Monday morning saying a man with a gun stole her purse and truck. A few hours later, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies spotted the truck and tried to pull the driver over.

The driver pulled onto a dead end road and deputies set up a road block at the other end in an attempt to stop the truck. The driver turned and allegedly rammed two patrol cars as he fled. Authorities said the truck stopped and the driver ran off. A passenger was detained at the scene.

No deputies were injured, but the patrol cars were damaged.

The investigation continues.
