MIMS, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – One former loyal Chef Boyardee customer is hoping for a closer look into the popular canned pasta product after she said she chomped into a hairy-legged spider that was inside the pasta.
Victoria Jean Harrah, of Mims, Fla., is pressing the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and ConAgra, the food conglomerate that oversees Chef Boyardee, to look into how a spider recently wound up in her Chef Boyardee Mini Ravioli.
“I spit it up,” Harrah told WKMG. “I screamed, rinsed my mouth out and I must have brushed my teeth till my teeth hurt.”
WKMG reports that Harrah, 48, was heating up a can of ravioli for her and her fiancé. She told WKMG that she loved Chef Boyardee and would buy as many as 20 cans a week in the last 30 years. But when she reported the incident to ConAgra, a representative allegedly told her that the spider was a figment of her imagination.
“The woman on the phone said they have people who call all the time and that it was just a piece of meat,” Harrah told WKMG. “But this was a spider. You can see its legs. It’s in the middle of the noodle, it’s got eyeballs and big hairy legs.”
