HOLLY HILL, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – Holly Hill police arrest a man who they say allegedly attacked a woman near the Riviera Country Club after she refused his romantic advances.
On Sunday, Michael Anselmo, 64, was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder.
According to police, Anselmo stabbed the woman after she rejected his advances.
Police say two golfers at the country club witnessed the attack and came to the woman’s rescue.
“Thanks to the courageous actions of these individuals the victim was rescued from a vicious attack and almost certain death,” Holly Hill Police Chief Mark Barker told WKMG-TV.
The victim was taken to Halifax Health Emergency and her condition is unknown.
Anselmo was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail and is currently in custody.
