Disney Officials Refuse To Let Teen Dressed As Tinkerbell Inside Park

ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – The happiest place on earth was anything but happy for a teenager who wanted to dress up as Tinkerbell.

Disney officials prohibited April Spielman from entering Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Sunday as the 15-year-old was dressed as Tinkerbell, a violation of park policy. WKMG-TV reports that Spielman and her boyfriend, who was dressed as Peter Pan, were refused admittance into the park due to their costumes being representative of actual Disney characters.

When Spielman and her boyfriend approached the gate Sunday, park officials prohibited them from entering without changing first. Spielman told WKMG that Disney officials indicated that she “looked too good” and that she closely resembled the Disney employee who poses as Tinkerbell for photos and signs autographs for park visitors.

The pair apparently had no problem getting into Disney’s Hollywood Studios earlier in the day, but it was a different story at Animal Kingdom.

“They were talking how the little girls, it ruins their dreams,” Spielman told WKMG. “But it ruined my dreams because I just want to be Tinkerbell.”

Park officials, however, would make up for the ruling. Spielman received a free T-shirt to change into and herself, her boyfriend and her family received FastPass tickets, allowing them to skip the long lines at rides.
