Fuel Tanker Overturns, I-75 South Closed In SW Fla

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (AP) — Deputies say a fuel is leaking from an overturned tanker truck just south of Exit 161 on southbound Interstate 75.

Charlotte County Sheriff’s officials say the truck rolled over at 6:05 a.m. Thursday.

Deputies say the driver escaped without injury. They say initial reports indicated the tanker was carrying 6,000 gallons of diesel fuel and 1,400 gallons of gasoline.

It was not immediately known how long the interstate will be closed.

Traffic heading south on Interstate 75 is being rerouted to U.S. 41 in Punta Gorda, which is south of Sarasota.
