Sarasota Minister Gets Life For Sexual Abuse

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — A Sarasota minister has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy.

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported that 42-year-old Joe Harrison Jr. was sentenced Monday.

Harrison led Liberty Central Ministries International, a storefront church with about 20 members. He had befriended the boy’s family.

He was arrested last year after the boy told police he had been abused for two years.

Harrison was found guilty last month of three counts of molesting a child under 16 but over 12.
