Because of the large amount of hunting opportunities within Tampa Bay there’s also a large amount of hunting stores. It’s hard to know which ones are the best unless someone gives you the inside scoop. We asked country DJ Steve Austin of WQYK – an avid hunter – to give us the low-down on the best hunting stores in the Bay area.

Shooter’s World

This is the king of the hill when it comes to Tampa Bay gun and hunting stores.  Huge, and modern, and well designed. Shooter’s World has a high end room with all the tactical (assault) weapons and gear. Another room has weapons, gear, cleaning supplies, and all the ammo. A third room – under lock and key – houses a rare gun collection and is available for viewing by appointment only. The rifle range is $18 an hour. There are seven positions each with an electronic spotter that transmits the image of your shot to a 9″ LCD screen in your booth. The Pistol range is $15 an hour and has 27 positions, each with a reactive steel range that requires frangible ammunition that you must buy from them.  They offer classes too – some tailored just to newcomers and ladies – and some that are focused on more advanced shooters.  This new store is a wonderful addition to the Tampa Bay gun owners scene.
