Florida Man Suspected Of Shooting His Pregnant Girlfriend

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A man who Daytona Beach police say fired at officers is suspected of also shooting his pregnant girlfriend.

Volusia County Jail records show 22-year-old Marvin Calvin Jones was charged Sunday with first-degree attempted murder of a law enforcement officer. Police say he shot at officers during a chase. Records do not indicate if Jones has been charged in the woman’s shooting. She suffered serious injuries and remains in the hospital.

Police say officers responded to a report Saturday night at Daytona Beach International Airport that a man was sitting in his car with a gun. Police say Jones fired several times at officers during the chase.

At Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, one officer hit Jones with his patrol car. Police then fired back and struck him. Jones remained in the hospital.
