LAND O’LAKES, Fla. (CBS Tampa) - A case of road rage led to one man’s arrest at Pine View elementary school in Land O’Lakes on Monday, Pasco County deputies say.
Robert Bower, 34, told police he was driving his children to school when a man driving a gray Honda Accord cut him off. Bower passed the driver, Brian Todd Gabbard, and motioned with an obscene gesture.
The Tampa Bay Times reported witnesses saw the two running each other off the road along Collier Parkway.
Bower stopped at Pine View Elementary to drop his children off, but Gabbard pulled behind him. Gabbard got out of his car and punched Bower’s window, shattering glass on Bower and his children.
Deputies say Bower tried to open his door, but Gabbard slammed it shut and punched Bower in the face over 10 times. Authorities found both men with bleeding lips. Gabbard claimed Bower threw the first punch.
Bower was given medical attention by the school nurse, while Gabbard was arrested and charged with burglary with battery. Arrest records show he was released on $150,000 bail.
