PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (AP) — A southwest Florida teen has been arrested after deputies say he threw a large jaw breaker candy out of a school bus window and hit a passing motorist in the face.
The 15-year-old Charlotte High School student was charged Wednesday with a felony count of throwing a deadly missile into an occupied vehicle. Charlotte County deputies say the incident happened April 2.
A 30-year-old woman told deputies she was driving on U.S. 41 when she saw a boy in a white t-shirt throw an object from the bus. Deputies say the jaw breaker hit the woman in the face, causing a contusion.
Detectives obtained a copy of the bus video and identified the boy. He was released to his parents after being booked into jail.
