Two Tampa Bay Men Arrested After Shooting Deputies

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say two Tampa Bay-area men are in custody after firing at sheriff’s deputies in separate incidents.

In New Port Richey, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office says a heavily armed man fled to a neighbor’s house early Monday after deputies showed up at his home.

The sheriff’s office says the man shot at deputies clearing the neighbor’s house but then surrendered after they returned fire.

No one was injured.

In Dade City, the sheriff’s office says deputies shot a man who pointed a gun at city police officers late Sunday.

The sheriff’s office says the man had barricaded himself inside a home and had a history of threatening his family with guns. The man’s condition was not immediately clear.

Authorities say investigations into both shootings continue.
