Police: Valrico Death May Not Be Random

By Allison Mondell, CBS Tampa

VALRICO, Fla. (CBS Tampa) –  Detectives believe Tuesday’s death of a Valrico man was not a random crime, but that the victim knew the suspect.

The victim, 61-year-old Samuel Lee Partin, was found dead in his home on Tuesday after police responded to an emergency call made by Partin’s wife and son.  Linda and Samuel Jr. arrived home at 4:20 p.m. to find their home ransacked.  The two immediately exited the house, located at 1915 Erin Brooke Drive, and called the police.

The first deputy to arrive found Partin’s body in one of the bedrooms.    The Hillsborough County police report stated it appeared that Partin suffered trauma to the upper torso.  The medical examiner is determining the official cause of death of the victim.

The normally peaceful neighborhood of Brentwood Hills is shaken by the death, which police do not believe is random.  According to arrest records, Samuel Partin has been arrested numerous times on charges such as possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence.  On Tuesday night, Partin’s 23-year-old son, Shedrick, was arrested and charged with burglary and grand theft.

Police are continuing to investigate Partin’s death as a homicide.
