TAMPA, Fla. (CBS Tampa) -  The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office identified a man found dead early this morning in the parking lot of Avesta Apartments in Tampa.

At 2:51 a.m., police responded to a call about a man lying in the parking lot at Avesta Apartments located at 2020 131st Avenue East.  The body was identified as 21-year-old Sergio Gabriel Alexande Smith.

The sheriff’s office said it appeared someone may have went through Smith’s car and removed some of his belongings.  Police are investigating the death as a homicide.
