Police: Gang Member Responsible For Drive-By Shooting

TAMPA, Fla. (CBS Tampa) –  According to police, a gang member was responsible for a drive-by shooting on Sunday morning.

Michael Douglas Dilworth Jr., 28, was driving a vehicle with an unidentified passenger around 3 a.m. Sunday morning when he began shooting at two people.  Police say Dilworth circled the victims a second time after his first round of bullets.  The victims were not hurt in the shooting but several cars in the area were damaged.

Police are further investigating the incident.  It is unclear as to whether or not  Dilworth knew the victims. He was arrested near Ida Street and North 34th Street about 30 minutes after the shooting, though the exact location of the incident was not specified by police.

According to arrest records, Dilworth was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  Dilworth’s past charges include contempt of court and possession of marijuana.
