1 Train Involved In 2 Separate Deaths In Florida

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a train bound for Atlanta fatally struck two people in separate incidents along Florida’s Atlantic coast.

Early Friday, authorities said a man stepped in front of Florida East Coast Railway Train 210 in Fort Lauderdale.

Around 2:40 p.m. Friday, St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Catherine Payne said another person stepped in front of the same train in St. Augustine. At the time, the train was traveling at 58 mph.

Husein Cumber of the Florida East Coast Railway tells The St. Augustine Record (http://bit.ly/AmSrwd ) that while the same train was involved in both deaths, the crews were different.

Train 210 travels from Miami to Atlanta.
