Nothing goes better with sports than a big juicy rib or a sloppy burger. We have collected a list of the best rib and burger sports bars that will stuff you to the top of your shirt while you watch sports.
Lee Roy Selmon’s Restaurant and Sports Bar
If you want big juicy ribs and even bigger burgers in a sport heavy environment then head with your bib in hand to any of the 5 locations of Lee Roy Selmon’s. They have 4 different rib platters to choose from as well as 4 hearty burgers . The largest is a 7 oz. USDA prime burger that comes with sweet potato fries. There are two Lee Roy Selmon’s in Tampa ( New Tampa and South Tampa), two in Pinellas ( St. Pete and Palm Harbor) and one in Brandon.
Buffalo Wild Wings
If you are looking for a casual high-tech sports bar with a large selection of beefy burgers, tasty ribs with a a ton of sauces to choose from, you hit pay dirt with this sports bar chain. They have 6 different burgers including a Black and Blue Burger, Screamin Nacho Burger, and a Big-Jack Daddy Burger. This burger is the mac-daddy of all burgers. It’s piled high with hickory-smoked pulled pork, fried onion rings, cheddar jack cheese and their signature Honey BBQ sauce on an already mouth-watering burger. Now that’s a burger!
There are 7 Bay area Buffalo Wild Wings to choose from. Clearwater (best sports bar during Phillies Baseball Spring Training), New Port Richey, Oldsmar, Brandon, Lakeland, and two locations in Riverview.
The Brown Boxer Pub and Grille
A Trendy Sports Pub and Grille that features a full bar, plenty of sports action, pool tables and great ribs and burgers. There are two Pinellas beach locations to choose from, Clearwater Beach and Madeira Beach. Both have tons of HD and flat screen TV’s with DirecTV sports packages and international soccer. They have full and half racks of fresh not frozen, slow-smoked, juicy ribs. They only have one burger, but it is thick fresh and sloppy. The Clearwater location is open 11am – 3am 7 nights and week and always serves until 2 in the morning. The Madeira location has a huge deck just so you and Fido can spend quality time eating and watching sports together.
Ragin Sports Grill
Ragin Sports Grill is new to the Channelside area, but it’s already a star! The locals that live in the surrounding condos practically live in this sports bar food heaven. There are 20 flat screens surrounding the restaurant. This is a simple sports bar. It’s all about the food and the sports so don’t expect some fancy sports pictures on the walls.
Ragin has 3 incredible ribs to choose from: pork baby back ribs, beef spareribs (You don’t find many restaurants that serve these) and St. Louis style Pork spareribs.
Ragin Sports Grill has incredible burgers too. They have 4 different kinds. If you like veggie burgers you’ll love Ragin’s, it’s pure heaven on a flatbread.
Heading to a lightning game or a concert? Park in Channelside’s Grand Central parking garage and grab a bite to eat and a brew before the event. The first two hours of parking are free and the Forum is a quick 4 blocks away.
Champps is on North West Shore Blvd adjacent to International Plaza near the Tampa Airport. Champps is a chain sports bar with a generous amount of TV’s. Beware this is a loud sports bar! The Baby Back Ribs are sports bar quality which is good but nothing to write home about. It is the burger that rules at Champp’s. They have 9 different ones. The Chipotle BBQ Burger caught my attention. This burger is BIG! It’s piled high with cheddar cheese, applewood-smoked bacon and topped with BBQ pulled pork, Chipotle mayo, lettuce and tomato. Now that’s a burger!
Smokey Bones Bar and Fire Grill
Smokey Bone’s is more of a restaurant with a nice bar area. There are 3 Smokey Bones in the Tampa Bay area once in Tampa, Clearwater and Brandon. They have Baby Back ribs and St. Louis style ribs. They also have 6 great Burgers to choose from. If you dare, try the Smoked Stack. Three 1/2 lb seasoned beef patties, smothered in three slices of melted cheddar cheese, topped with golden fried onion rings, crispy onion straws, a pile of pulled pork and Cole slaw, all on a toasted burger bun. Talk about needing anti-acids!
