Dog Kills 17-Month-Old Boy In Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Police say a 17-month-old boy was killed by a dog in a neighbor’s yard.

Dylan Andres got away from his mother Friday morning as she was unpacking groceries. He wandered into a neighbor’s yard across the street and was attacked by the dog, which was chained to a pole in the front yard.

The Florida Times-Union reports that the dog was a Rottweiler. Reports say the child was bitten in the neck repeatedly, until Dylan’s father pulled the dog away.

Neighbors took the boy and his mother to a nearby hospital hospital, where the boy was pronounced dead.

Police say the dog will be euthanized. Officials say they have no prior reports of problems with the dog, whose owner was not home at the time of the attack.

Dog chained to a pole in the front yard and no one home? GHE-TTO.

If it was a Rottweiler, why is the picture of a Pitt bull????

Use an image of a bad dog owner, or even a Rottweiler, not a pit. Your writers and editors are lazy and are doing a bad job.

So the mother was injured, too?

I am so sorry for the family. This may seem unrelated, but I wonder about the people tying dogs outside. My family was invited to a friend’s house for party on the 4th. Across the front yard was a dog, on a dog run tied to two trees. We had to walk from the street to the house by passing under this run, or walk all the way around to the garage side, and up the sidewalk. We took the shorter route and our little girls walked closely to the dog, possibly even petting him. After we had been inside for hours, the owners told us how very dangerous their dog was, and not to go near him. I could not believe they had asked many guests over and then put such a dangerous dog in their direct path.

The world isn’t getting better. People are not getting smarter. Idiots are leading the people. Seems that we should learn from our mistakes and grow smarter and wiser but it’s just not happening.

Hello…. Why is the mother not watching her child?????It is one thing for a child to wander in the yard, but this boy went across the street. I have a 15 month old boy and no matter what he is never out of sight. It isn’t the dog or dog’s owner’s fault. You should be allowed to tie your dog in your own yard.

Did they use FOOD STAMPS to buy the groceries ? I will bet the “father” is not MARRIED to the mother….just came by for a booty call….LOSERS …The rest of the world is lucky that another criminal met an early end – rather than at the end of a needle for murdering an innocent citizen

Shame on you for such vicious words about a fellow human being who is enduring a grief beyond measure and about a little boy violently killed. You need to have a long talk with God about your attitude. Love, not hate, will bring happiness.
