TAMPA, Fla. (CBS Tampa) - Although Valrico teen Jeremy Rosado received praise from all three judges after his semi-finals performance, DialIdol.com does not predict he will advance to the next round of American Idol.
Judge Steven Tyler praised Rosado for his song choice, “Gravity” by Sara Bareilles, saying, “You couldn’t have picked a better song.”
Randy Jackson said he was “impressed with the tender moments and the big booming vocals.”
Jennifer Lopez told nineteen-year-old Rosado that he was blessed, saying, “You open your mouth and immediately, I’m drawn in.”
DialIdol.com measures the busy signal on each Idols’ phone line to predict who is getting the most votes. The site, which began during Idol’s fifth season, claims it has an 87 percent accuracy rate. DialIdol.com ranked Rosado in eleventh place among the 13 male performers.
Family and friends of Rosado have encouraged the community to vote for him in the competition. His supporters wear t-shirts and said they would wave signs at the Westfield Brandon Mall after Rosado made it to the semi-finals.
Holly O’Connor, a Tampa Bay DJ for Play 98.7, said the support for Rosado was tremendous.
“He does deserve to make it to the next round,” she said. “Tampa Bay has a new superstar in Jeremy Rosado.”
Local radio station Q105 polled listeners on their website to see who Tampa Bay favored to continue. Rosado placed fifth in the poll, which would clear him on to the next round.
Rosado, who had auditioned for the show four times before this season, was nicknamed “Jer-Bear” by the judges. Jennifer Lopez told Rosado in last week’s episode that they noticed his character during Hollywood week.
“You’d be cheering everybody on, and I said, that’s a nice kid right there,” she said.
In an interview with American Idol, Rosado said he hoped America would get to see the real Jeremy.
“I love to love everyone,” he said. “I hope they get to see that side of me and like me for that.”
On Thursday, the results of voting will be revealed. Only the top five male contestants of the 13 will continue on to the next round.
Tonight, 12 female contestants will perform for America’s votes, including Tampa teen Shannon Magrane.
