St. Pete Man Beaten and Seriously Injured in Home Invasion

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (CBS TAMPA) – The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a robbery and home invasion that has left a man hospitalized with serious injuries.

William Bennett Roberts, deputies say, was found injured and calling out for help Friday morning in his home at 5104 67th Way North in St. Petersburg.

When Sheriff’s deputies and rescue crew arrived on the scene they found 58-year-old Bennett seriously injured. They say he was the victim of a beating. He was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of his injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office says detectives and a crime scene unit are investigating this case as a possible home invasion and robbery.

There is no word on the victim’s current condition.

Deputies say they have not made an arrest yet but are continuing their investigation.
