Rays Have a Cat as a New Mascot

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – There’s a band new cat in town and he’s going to be a mascot for the Tampa Bay Rays starting this season.

The Rays new mascot is named DJ Kitty and will not replace Raymond as the official mascot of the team. DJ Kitty will serve as a secondary mascot or back up mascot. DJ Kitty will make appearances and help Raymond out with his official duties.

DJ Kitty gets his own Rays uniform and will be wear a cowbell around his neck to help cheer on the team.

The DJ Kitty mascot is named after the cat that spins records on videos played at the ball park during games.

DJ Kitty will make his Tampa Bay debut this Saturday at the Rays Fan Fest at Tropicana Field.
