Deputies Investigate Murder of 52-Year-Old Tampa Woman Found Dead In Duplex

TAMPA, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating possible murder of a 52-year-old Tampa woman.

In a report obtained by CBS Tampa, Nancy Grooms was found dead in her 122nd Avenue duplex by a friend who went to check on her.

The report states, “On February 12, 2012, at approximately 11:35 a.m. a friend of the victim went to her residence to check on her since he had not heard from her. When he arrived at the victim’s duplex, he discovered the victim deceased inside.”

The deputies report states that “It appears that the victim suffered trauma to the upper torso and that she has been dead for a couple of days.”

The Medical Examiner will do an autopsy on Monday to decide the possible cause of death.

The male friend’s name has not being released because he considered a witness.
