Coast Guard Rescues 2 Men From Capsized Boat Off St Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — The Coast Guard has rescued two men whose boat capsized off the coast of St. Petersburg.

Authorities received a mayday call from the men Saturday afternoon reporting that their 16-foot recreational boat had capsized.

The men, ages 24 and 25, said they needed immediate assistance.

The Coast Guard launched a rescue boat to the scene and was able to safely recover both men from the water.

Crew-members were then able to upright the boat and tow it in.

Officials say the boaters had brought along handheld radios that allowed them to contact the Coast Guard.
