Brandon Woman Run Over Twice Outside Derby Lane in St Pete

By Barbara Ann Kelley,

ST. PETERSBURG, Fl. (CBS Tampa) – A 24-year-old Brandon woman was run over and killed by a tanker truck and another car early Friday morning as she returned from Derby Lane in St Petersburg.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report, Nicole J. Lojewski was walking across Gandy Blvd. from Derby Lane with two men around 3 a.m. Friday when the accident occurred. The report states the three were crossing in a cross walk on “Don’t Walk” and the tanker truck that struck Lojewski had the green light and the right of way.

The report says another vehicle also hit Lojewski but witnesses reported it fled the scene. Law enforcement are searching for that vehicle.

Lojewski died at the scene of the accident.

In the state of Florida it is a third degree felony to leave the scene of a crash where there is an injury or death.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or driver involved in this hit-and-run is asked to call Corporal Hinton with the Florida Highway Patrol at 813-631-4020.
