Seminole House Fire Leaves One Dead Another Injured

SEMINOLE, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – One person is dead and another with minor burns after a house fire in Seminole.

Fire officials were called to a house fire just after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night in the 7000 block of Greenbrier Drive. After the fire was extinguished the body of 84-year-old Sonja Skemp was discovered.

Fire investigators have determined that the fire started when Skemp apparently set her pajamas on fire while lighting a cigarette.

Skemp’s husband was able to escape uninjured, but Skemp was already dead by the time rescue crews arrived.
